PDP in deep crisis admist Anambra elections.

   

            

 

THERE was a sharp disagreement in the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday over the  November 16 governorship election  in Anambra State  as the party’s candidate, Tony Nwoye, openly  flayed the  national headquarters and state chapter of the party  for  praising the conduct of the poll.

The National Publicity Secretary  of the PDP, Mr. Olisa Metuh,  had on Sunday described the election as ‘free and fair’ even when Nwoye joined his All Progressives Congress  and Labour Party  counterparts, Chris Ngige and Ifeanyi Ubah,  respectively in calling for its cancellation. Business woman, Mrs Olayinka Obaleye has been kidnapped.

An Osun State business woman, Mrs Olayinka Obaleye has been kidnapped. She was reported to have been kidnapped Tuesday night in front of her Foam factory, Yinka Oba Foam as she was about leaving the office for her house.  Her driver, Alhaji Kamal was killed by the gunmen before whisking Mrs Olayinka away. Her whereabouts is still unknown. The Commissioner of Police has confirmed the incident says investigation into the matter is on-going.

Alec Baldwin professes love for a man

Alec Baldwin jokingly professed his love for a man in front of a large crowd on Wednesday as he tried to ease the backlash triggered by an Internet clip that captured him berating a photographer with what sounded like a gay slur.
In his own words, "I want you to be my lover, Matt." after asking a member of his entourage to stand up. "I love you, Matt. I love you in that way."
After the packed audience's laughter died down, Baldwin added that he has loved some men more than women during his life, although never in a sexual way.

JAMB registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde's home attacked by gunmen.

                           
The home of the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde was invaded on  monday by unidentified gunmen.
The gunmen suspected to be hired assassins, invaded his home in Abuja, in search of him.
Fortunately, he had gone on an official assignment when they arrived.
Sources said they scaled the fence, forced their way through the back door and gained entrance into his house without the knowledge of the police guards and private guards at his residence. The gunmen harassed his family, and ransacked the compound in search of Ojerinde. After they were convinced he was nowhere in sight, they left without taking anything.
Shortly after the incident was reported to the Maitama Police Area Command, the police stepped in and arrested the private guards and policemen posted to Ojerinde’s residence. Those arrested are said to be currently undergoing interrogation. The Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination, UTME, is slated for tomorrow (Saturday).

AMAA Awards' pregnant foreign guest slapped by a security officer at port harcourt airport.

Nigerian woman tries to commit suicide for fear of being deported.

  

A Nigerian teenager who is married to a British man is fighting for her life in hospital after a drug overdose just days before she was due to be sent back to Nigeria.
May Brown, a 19-year-old college student, fled to Britain from Nigeria three years ago after witnessing her father’s murder and being subjected to sexual abuse.
She settled in Weymouth, Dorset, where she met her husband, Michael Brown, 12 months ago and the couple married last December.
Mrs Brown, who was a games maker at last summer’s Olympics and has two university offers to study law, applied to stay in the UK but despite her marriage her application was rejected.
Mr Brown, 34, said UK Border Agency officials believe their marriage to be a ‘sham’ with no ‘emotional attachment’.
His wife was told she would be flown back to Nigeria tomorrow.
She was so distressed at the prospect of returning to her home country she took an overdose of medication.
Her mother-in-law, Helen-Claire Brown, found her collapsed on the bathroom floor on Monday morning with a note to her husband saying she ‘couldn’t live without him’.

Man tortures 12 year old rape victim; blames her for getting raped.

                        

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a guardian, Edwin Alagbaso, for allegedly torturing a 12-year-old rape victim.

 Alagbaso, who used razor blade, knife and an iron rod to punish the victim, blamed her for “causing the rape”. A 22-year-old man, Uche Chibueze, who raped the minor, was also arrested by the police.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Chibueze, on April 15, 2013, had sex with the victim near the home of her guardian located at number 1 Magente Street, Pipeline, Akute.

 

Chibueze, however, told our correspondent that he did not rape the victim since it was consensual.

He said, “I was at a friend’s gathering when she came to me saying she had spiritual problem and wanted to know her real family. I told her that she should follow me to Solution Church which was nearby and she agreed.

Baga Massacre: Death toll rises to 187.

The Red Cross has revealed that an estimated 187 people died in Baga, in Borno state, weekend after Nigerian soldiers and suspected terrorists of the Boko Haram sect, exchanged intense gun fire.
About 77 people were also reportedly wounded in the fierce clashes, where forty percent of the homes in the village were gutted by fire.
“Many residents are still unaccounted for and for now it is assumed that they fled into the bush,” said one rescue official.
The Village Head of Baga, Malam Ali said 2,000 houses were razed and 486 motorcycles damaged in Friday’s clash between the military and terrorists.
Speaking while briefing Governor Kashim Shettima, who was on an assessment tour of the village and other areas affected in Kukawa LGA on Monday, Ali said 62 private and commercial vehicles were also damaged.

Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun, also known as Dagrin  was born on 21st of  October 1987.He was an award winning rapper who incorporated Yoruba, English and pidgin into his style of rap. His genre of music opened doors to other artistes who followed in his footsteps. Today makes it 3 years since the young super star left for the great beyond after a tragic motor accident in Lagos.  In 2010, shortly before he died, he was nominated for the Nigerian Entertainment Awards for Best Album (C.E.O.), Hottest Single "Kondo", Best Rap Act and Best Collaboration with vocals. His album C.E.O. (Chief executive Omoita meaning Chief Executive Gangster) won the Hip hop World Award 2010 for best rap album. His hit singles "Pon Pon Pon", and "Kondo" also came from that album. He later died at the age of 22 on 22nd of April 2010. We love and miss you Dagrin, but God loves you most. RIP Barack O'grin.

Recently I got involved in the life of a little girl who was about five years old. The experience I got was scary but also very informative and educative. I thought I should share this information with parents, guardians, heads of schools, neighbours, hospitals and pharmacies.
I realised that Nigeria pays a lot of attention to specific vaccinations when children are born and our hospitals do not have the culture of going through files to know who and who is due for another vaccination. They just leave it to the parents, who may not remember or are not around, and in the process skip a very important vaccine for the child.
As exposed as a lot of us think we are, there are a lot of things that we do not know, or have heard of and are not sure exactly what they are.

Mitch Winehouse criticises Beyonce for recording Amy Winehouse's song.

Amy Winehouse's father, Mitch Winehouse is displeased with Beyonce and her team. Beyoncé recently recorded her own version of Amy's hit track back to black for a new movie called The great Gatsby. During an interview, Mitch says,  ‘I don’t think she brings anything to it.’ Adding that he  wasn’t asked for his permission if they could record it.
He has now agreed to its use, but said, ‘They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can’t tell you how much it is but it’s a lot of money.’

Father stabs 12 year old daughter to death while skyping with her mum.

A man who believed his wife was cheating on him while she was working abroad stabbed their 12-year-old daughter to death in a jealous rage live on Skype, a court has heard.
The trial in Liberec, Czech Republic, has shocked the entire country after it was revealed the terrified girl had been heard pleading for her life and saying 'daddy, stop please.'
But the 64-year-old man, name withheld for legal reasons, continued to stab the girl with the 12-inch kitchen knife while her horrified mother watched online.
Prosecutors say the man was well aware of what he was doing and rejected any suggestion that he was suffering from diminished responsibility.
They said it was a brutal act of jealousy and revenge against his wife who had been working overseas to raise money for her family at the time.
Psychological tests showed the father is fit to stand trial although he has refused to speak since the incident.

Fake Ghanaian medical doctor arrested in Lagos, Nigeria.

                                             

 

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and the Health Facility Monitoring Agent, HEFAMA, Lagos State, has arrested a 28-year-old  Ghanaian, Michael Akorful, for parading himself as a medical practitioner when he is not.
The suspect has been practising as a medical practitioner in a private hospital in Festac Town, Lagos until nemesis caught up with him last Wednesday after he gave wrong prescription to a patient.
According to Akorful, “I was in school in Ukraine but could not graduate and I ran away from the school because I was to be arrested for being a witness to a crime.
“One day, I went out to a joint with my friends where a fight broke out and somebody died in the process. The Police arrested the guy and was looking for me, so I ran away.”
